Photos with clear shapes and decent contrast convert the cleanest. Reference photos of faces, animals, flowers, and objects all work. If a photo is busy, lower the detail setting so the stencil keeps the main structure instead of every small texture.
Outline pulls the outer contours only, which suits simple shapes. Linework keeps interior lines as well, which suits most photo references. Bold thickens the lines for designs that need to read at a distance or hold up on a thermal printer.
