Stencils that print right on your thermal printer

A stencil is only useful if it comes off the thermal printer at the size you planned. HectoInk builds a tiled print PDF for Letter or A4 thermal stencil paper with overlap between pages, registration marks, page numbers, and a 1-inch calibration square, so large pieces assemble accurately and small ones print true to size.

Straight answers

How does tiling work for large stencils?

Set the width in inches and HectoInk splits the design across as many Letter or A4 sheets as it needs. Each page overlaps the next and carries registration marks and a page number, so you can line the sheets up, trim, and join them into one stencil at the exact size.

What is the calibration square for?

Every print PDF includes a 1-inch calibration square. Measure it after printing. If it measures exactly one inch, your printer scaling is correct and the stencil is true to size. If it is off, your printer is scaling the page, and you can fix that in the print settings.

Which paper size should I choose?

Choose the paper your thermal printer is loaded with, Letter or A4. HectoInk lays out the tiles for that sheet size, so pick the one that matches your stencil paper stock.
